About

The White Sorghum Women Farmer’s Association (WSWFA) was founded in response to the need for economic empowerment and independence among women in Kitgum and its surrounding areas. The association’s primary goal is to develop the region by encouraging women to participate in large-scale farming of white sorghum and establishing the largest granary for Ugandan Breweries Limited.
WSWFA’s vision is to create a world where women survive and thrive. The association seeks to recognize and reward women’s hard work and dedication in farming and empower them to lift themselves and their families out of poverty through sustainable farming practices. WSWFA envisions a future where women can access education, resources, and technology to grow and scale their farming businesses. By achieving this, they aim to create a society where women are at the forefront of agricultural innovation and progress, leading the way toward a brighter, more prosperous future for all.
To achieve its mission and vision, WSWFA has set specific objectives. One of these objectives is to become Uganda’s largest white sorghum producer by encouraging women to participate in large-scale farming and providing them with access to land to embrace planting white sorghum. Another objective is to establish the biggest white sorghum silo in Kitgum, enabling the association to store large quantities of the crop and sell to brewery companies in bulk.
WSWFA also has a social objective to uplift society out of idleness, unemployment, and alcoholism through the Out Growers’ White Sorghum Women’s Association. By providing employment opportunities and encouraging people to take up farming, they hope to address some social problems affecting their community. WSWFA is committed to positively impacting its community by empowering women and uplifting society. Through their efforts, they hope to create a world where women have equal opportunities to succeed in farming and contribute to the economic and social development of their communities.
